Making a Throwover Bedspread Instructions

Image of a finished throwover bedspreadThis is the simplest of bedcovers and can be made in variety of fabrics from lightweight cottons to heavy quilted. They can be made to match, co-ordinate or contrast with your colour scheme.

A throwover bedspread is a rectangle of fabric, which can be lined, that drapes over the whole bed down to the floor or can be tucked under the mattress of beds with decorative ends. Extra fabric is added at the top of the bed to allow for the height of the pillows. The bottom corners are rounded to stop the fabric trailing on the floor.

When more than one width of fabric is required it is essential that a full width is placed in the centre and part widths added equally at each side.

Fringing can be added to the sides and bottom hems for added decoration.
